Social and Volunteer Work

Students’ social and volunteer work is oriented toward two areas. Some students go to the rural areas to provide voluntary teaching to the poor, publicize government policies and offer legal aid. Some students go to factories, mines, enterprises, assist farmers with scientific methods, conduct research in enterprises, and do field work for the development of China’s New Rural Areas. Through these social practices, students are able to experience the life of the disadvantaged and the difficulties in rural areas. This will help them tailor their career paths toward working for the disadvantaged group and in the benefit of rural development in China.
Student volunteers also go to communities, enterprises and public institutions to do on-the-job training or other voluntary work. In recent years, the university has established many off-campus practice sites for students to do community work in Beijing.
