The Professor Sun Xueliang, Academician of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada and Canadian Academy of Engineering Visited Beijing University of Technology

On October 24th, Sun Xueliang,Academician of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada, Academician of Canadian Academy of Engineering and Professor of University of Western Ontario, visited Beijing University of Technology, andthe vice president Wu Bin met with the professor Sun Xueliang on behalf of the school,accompanied by the relevant persons in charge of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and School of Materials and Manufacturing.

The vice president Wu Bin extended a warm welcome tothe professor Sun Xueliang’s visit andbriefly introduced the basic situation of Beijing University of Technology, the status quo of international exchanges and introduction of foreign knowledge of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, and the construction of first-class discipline. He said that Beijing University of Technology is committed to promoting international talent training, construction of teaching staff and discipline construction through extensive and fruitful international exchange activities, and constantly improving its own strength and international reputation. He hopes that the two universities can explore more cooperation opportunities and enrich the form of cooperation on the basis of the existing scientific research cooperation between professors.

The professor Sun Xueliang expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of Beijing University of Technology and briefly introduced the basic situation of University of Western Ontario and his scientific research cooperation with School of Materials and Manufacturing of Beijing University of Technology. He said that in recent years, University of Western Ontariohas been also actively promoting the internationalization strategy, and is willing to carry out multi-level and multi-type pragmatic cooperation with Beijing University of Technology in student exchange, scientific research and joint training of high-level talents.

The professor Sun Xueliang, with the themeof “Advanced Battery Materials and Devices”, gave a wonderful academic report to teachers and students,which received positive response.

Founded in 1878, University of Western Ontario is a leading public university in Doctor of Medicine in Ontario, Canada, known as “the most beautiful university in Canada”. The university consists of 3 colleges, 12 departments, 2 teaching hospitals and 3 affiliated research institutes. There are about 36,000 students and 3,200 full-time faculty and staff. It ranked 214th in the 2019 QS World University Ranking.

The professor Sun Xueliang is the chief scientist in the field of Nano Energy Materials at University of Western Ontario. In 2016, he became the academician of Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada andCanadian Academy of Engineering. In 1999, he gotthe Doctor degreeof the University of Manchester, and engaged inpost-doctoral research at University of CanadianColumbia from 1999 to 2001,with the major research direction of energy storage and conversion of nanoenergy structural materials, focusing on the research and application of fuel cells and lithium ion batteries.
