Dr. Yue Hou is currently an associate professor at College of Metropolitan Transportation, Beijing University of Technology. He obtained Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech, and now is a committee member of Mechanics of Pavements of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). As the Principal Investigator, Dr Hou’s research projects include the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education, Beijing University of Technology, etc. As the Principal Researcher, he participated in the National R&D key project, National High Technology Research and Development plan (863 plan) project, Beijing Natural Science Foundation, etc. In the past five years, he has published more than 30 peer-reviewed academic papers (SCI / EI), participated in more than ten important international conferences including TRB, TRC, etc. He also served as guest editors for several SCI journals and reviewer for more than ten internationally renowned journals.
Dr. Hou’s research interests include the intelligent pavement and the development of new pavement materials. He has carried out a lot of innovative work in the green pavement energy (piezoelectric pavement), transportation infrastructure structure safety monitoring based on the Internet of Things (IOT), road material fracture and self-healing mechanism, pavement-tire friction mechanics, multi-scale simulation of pavement materials, etc.
