1.Civil Engineering

Objectives: This program meets the needs of the city and engineering construction of the country (focusing on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region), aims to cultivate the comprehensive-development and compound-engineering-innovation talents with broad basic knowledge, good humanistic quality, strong engineering practice and sustainable learning ability and international vision, and lay the foundation for the cultivation of industry innovation leaders. After the basic training of engineering practice and innovation ability, the graduates have the ability to comprehensively use the knowledge they have learned to carry out civil engineering design, construction, management and technical development, have the preliminary scientific research ability, have better organization and management, environmental adaptation, communication and team cooperation ability, and can be engaged in project planning, engineering design, technology development, construction and management of civil engineering, to have strong practical and innovation ability, global visions, team values and good communication skills. About five years after graduation, graduates can have the ability to become middle professional technical fellows or technical directors.

2.Water Supply and Drainage

Objectives: The major of water supply and drainage science and engineering is to meet the major needsof the country, especially the water health cycle and water system security in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It aims to cultivate students who meet the needs of China’s socialist modernization construction,develop morally intellectually, physically, aesthetically and laboriously, have a high sense of social responsibility and professional ethics, have a solid foundation of natural science and Humanities and Social Sciences, have the sense of innovation, international competitiveness and ability of sustainable development, master the theory and knowledge of water supply and drainage science and engineering, and obtain the basic training of engineers with strong research and development ability, outstanding practical ability, communication ability and social adaptability. Graduates can be engaged in engineering planning, design, construction, operation and management related to water supply and drainage science and engineering. It is expected to become the backbone of technology and management in water supply and drainage science and engineering and related fields five years after graduation.

3.Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering

Objectives: To meet the demands for the economic and social development of the country, especially the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, this major is oriented towards healthy, comfortable, energy saving and safe building environment,and cultivate high-quality innovative person with persistent faith, good moral character, broad foundation, profound specialty, broad vision, outstanding practical ability and strong ability of sustainable development. Graduates can be engaged in planning and design, research and development manufacturing, construction installation, operation management and system support and other technical or management positions that about heating, ventilation, air conditioning, purification, cooling and heating sources, heating, renewable energy utilization, intelligent building, etc. in the design and research, engineering construction, equipment manufacturing, operation management, technical consulting and other enterprises and institutions.

Careerpaths: The graduates of this major will be mainly engaged in the field of green building and building energy conservation and emission reduction, involving the design, development and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, gas transmission and distribution projects. Except postgraduate study or further study abroad, graduates can work in design companies and engaged in the design work, including the regional power system of industrial and civil construction, HAVC system, building automatic control system, the indoor water supply and drainage system and fire control system, as well as the building energy efficiency evaluation and diagnosis work. They can also work in the planning, research and development, design, construction, consulting and operation management of large-scale refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, building intelligent control projects and distributed energy supply systems in building energy conservation consulting company, real estate development company, construction enterprise and property management company and so on.

4.Intelligent Construction

ObjectivesThe revolution of science and technology has forced reform and upgrade in various industries. Setting smart manufacturing as the core, all major industrialized countries in the world have formulated the strategy for manufacturing reform. The construction industry in China also needs to develop intelligent construction urgently for industrialization and informatization from the traditional fragmented and labor-intensive mode. Presently, a huge number of engineers that majors in civil engineering and artificial intelligent with innovation and motivation are needed to accelerate the development of the construction industry in China.

To contribute to the construction of the nation (especially, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region) and fit to the social development, this major aims to provide the students with solid basic theories, broad professional knowledge, outstanding practical ability, profound scientific and human literacy. Mastering the relevant principles and methods of smart construction, you are capable of intelligent planning and design, intelligent equipment and construction, intelligent facilities and disaster prevention, intelligent operation and maintenance, and management. The combination of continuous learning and innovation capabilities, international vision, and leadership are the basic quality that you can obtain during the study.

5.Traffic Engineering (experimentalclasses)

Objectives:Facing with a great demand for developing modern transportation, the main task of the transportation engineering featuring “engineering +management” aims to cultivate future inter-disciplinary creative graduates who are: excelling in all aspects including ethics, intellect, physique, aesthetic and labor; possessing a wealth of cultural and scientific knowledge as well as social responsibility awareness; skilled at engineering application and innovative practice; systematically mastering transportation engineering theories, expertise, engineering technique, and innovative methods. The students who study at transportation engineering are expected to have full knowledge of mathematics, natural science, foreign language, computer science as well as being good at cooperating and communicating with other people. Moreover, the students are familiar with the frontier knowledge and developing trend of the transportation engineering discipline so that they are qualified for the professional jobs related to project planning, design, construction, developing, operation, and management of transportation field. When the students graduate around five years , they should have the ability to be responsible for the technical or management work of professional projects.

6.Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering (experimental classes)

Objectives:To meet the intelligent development of modern traffic and transportation, the major in Traffic Equipment and Control Engineering featuring “transportation engineering + intelligent information” aims to cultivate future inter-disciplinary creative graduates who are excelling in all aspects including ethics, intellect, physique, aesthetic and labor; possessing a wealth of cultural and scientific knowledge as well as social responsibility awareness; skilled at engineering application and innovative practice; systematically mastering transportation engineering theories and other applicable information and intelligence theories, expertise, engineering technique, and innovation methods; appreciating global visions and teamwork; and pursuing the lifelong learning. Graduates have career choices in the intelligent transportation industry as described for hardware and software development, system integration, information processing, management and control, traffic planning and design. And they should be able to solve modern transportation issues using applicable theories and methods of transportation engineering and intelligent information.When the students graduate around five years, they should have the ability to be responsible for the technical or management work of professional projects.

7.Architecture

Objectives: The aim of architecture education is to provide students with a strong foundation of architecture theories, professional knowledge and skills of architectural design, innovative thinking, wide vision, social responsibility, collaborative values, sustainable development and cultural heritage concepts. We aim to cultivate future professionals who can provide architectural design, education, research, development and management services for architectural planning and design institutes, education and R&D institutes, or management departments. Students are supposed to be the leadingfiguresor core members of the field after 5 years of graduation. They should be able to independently undertake research, planning,projectdesign, preliminary design, construction drawing design, engineering and technical services for crucial projects, as well as other applicable design theoretical research and construction management work. Over the years, with the rapid development of social economy and urbanization in China, Architecture has been the most popular majors in the society. Our five-year Architecture Program is awarded as one of the National level first class programs by the Ministry Education and Beijing Municipal Education Commission and has been accredited by the national architecture education steering committee in 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 for six times. Graduates are granted with Bachelor degrees of Architecture which are recognized internationally. In 2010, our Architecture Programs were approved as the first experimental programs of the "excellent engineers training plan" by the Ministry of Education. In 2012, we, together with Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, had successfully applied to be a National Architectural Engineering Practice and Education Center, approved by the Ministry of Education, to provide students with excellent internship experience. Architectural graduates, after specific career training, can attend the vocational examinations to be a certified architect or urban planner.

Curriculum:students need to learn more than 40 modules in five years including the core courses, the selective courses and the practice based programs. Careerpaths: Students following this pathway can choose to work in architecture or indoor interior design related professional design and research institutes, design consulting companies, city and landscape planning and research institutes as well as other applicable management departments, real estate development institutes and national government agencies in Beijing or other large and medium-sized cities. Recently, almost 60% of undergraduates choose to pursue graduate studies (in domestic or international renowned universities).

8. Urban and Rural Planning

Objectives: We provide students with a strong foundation of theoretical urban and rural planning and design and practice, social responsibility, team values, innovative thinking, sustainable development concept, and respect for local history and culture. We aim to develop future professionals who can provide urban and rural planning design for professional planning and design institutes, management institutes, research institutes, or conduct related development, management, research. Students are supposed to be the leadingfiguresor core members of the field after 5 years of graduation. They should be able to independently undertakeurban and rural planning and design, urban and rural construction and development, urban and rural planning and theoretical research, urban and rural planning managementetc.Students also have chances to workin the field of architecture, landscape architectureandreal estate.

Curriculum: Urban Planning Principles, Urban Design, Overall Urban Planning, Rural Planning, Regulatory Planning, Urban Roads and Traffic Planning, Urban Construction History, and Urban, Rural and Municipal Engineering System Planning.

9.Landscape Architecture

Objective: The aim of Landscape architecture education in Beijing University of Technology is to provide students with a strong foundation of Landscape architecture theories, professional knowledge and skills of Landscape architecture design, innovative thinking, wide vision, social responsibility, collaborative values, sustainable development and cultural heritage concepts in the four years professional education. We aim to cultivate future professionals who can provide Landscape architecture design, education, research, development and management services for Landscape architectural planning and design institutes, education and R&D institutes, or management departments. Students are supposed to be the leading power or core members of the field after 5 years of graduation. They should be able to independently undertake the preliminary research, planning, program design, preliminary design, construction drawing design, engineering and technical services for crucial multi-scale Landscape architecture projects, as well as other applicable design theoretical research and construction management work.

Curriculum: The four years Landscape Architecture teaching plan highlights design theory, design practice, landscape technology, humanities and arts with international development. The core courses includes: Principles of landscape architecture planning and design, Landscape garden plant applications, Landscape garden engineering, Chinese and foreign landscape architecture history, Landscape garden heritage conservation, Computer-aided design and information technology, and Landscape planning and design Professional Studios.
