On August 15, ShanghaiRanking released its 2025 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) was ranked in the 201–300 band globally and in the 36–54 band of universities in the Chinese mainland.

Since first entering the ARWU ranking in 2017, the University's global ranking position has continuously risen as has its domestic standing. Following progress during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, it has entered the global top 300 for the first time, with its domestic ranking rising significantly, marking its best performance over the past five years.

This advancement reflects the University's remarkable improvement in academic strength and international influence, closely tied to measures introduced by the University in recent years, these being: consistently optimizing the overall disciplinary layout, building and strengthening high-level talent teams, and continuously enhancing organized research. Currently, the University's engineering and materials science disciplines are ranked in the top 0.1% of disciplines globally (ESI), with 11 disciplines in the global top 1% (ESI). The number of highly cited researchers continues to grow, with the cumulative number of national-level talents and scientists ranked among the world's top 2%, surpassing 100. In addition, the University has published eight major research findings in Nature and Science as the first or corresponding author. Both the volume and quality of the University's internationally published articles have steadily improved.
