Recently, the innovative "AOA" technology developed by Academician Peng Yongzhen's team at Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) was registered as a national trademark. This is the first registered trademark at BJUT named after an innovative technology, marking an important step forward for BJUT in the protection of independent intellectual property rights in the field of wastewater treatment.

The AOA (Anaerobic-Oxic-Anoxic) process is a groundbreaking biological municipal wastewater treatment technology independently developed by BJUT. More than 100 papers on the technology have been published in SCI Q1 journals. More than 20 pilot-scale tests have been carried out, and the technology has been successfully applied in over 25 newly built or upgraded projects, with a treatment capacity reaching 9 million tons per day.
To date, the technology has been applied in dozens of municipal wastewater treatment plants across cities including Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hefei, demonstrating its robust applicability across diverse regions, climates, and operational scenarios. The successful registration of the "AOA" trademark marks substantial progress for BJUT in the protection of independent intellectual property rights in the field of wastewater treatment.
