BJUT Wins Both the Medal and the Plaque of the National Award for Excellence in Innovation

On May 30, the award ceremony for the 4th National Award for Excellence in Innovation  was held. Prof. Qiao Junfei and his research team for  Seismic Safety and Resilience of Major Infrastructure Projects from Beijing University of Technology received both the Medal and Plaque. This is the first time the university has won this honor. In the national ranking of awardees, the university placed 17th overall and ranked first among municipal universities.

Professor Qiao Junfei is a distinguished expert in intelligent computing and intelligent optimal control. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, head of an innovation research group funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He currently serves as President of Beijing University of Technology, as well as a professor and doctoral supervisor. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, intelligent sensing, autonomous control, and smart environmental protection. He has led a number of major national research projects and achieved a series of breakthroughs in the intelligent optimization of complex systems, low-carbon industrial operations, and intelligent ecological and environmental management. Through the deep integration of frontier theoretical research with engineering applications, he has provided strong theoretical foundations and technical support for the development of next-generation information technology, smart environmental protection, and green industries in China.

The research team on Seismic Safety and Earthquake Resilience of Major Projects has long been dedicated to fundamental research and engineering applications in urban and major-project earthquake prevention and disaster mitigation As an interdisciplinary team grounded in engineering and integrating geophysics, seismology, and related disciplines, it conducts full-spectrum research in earthquake prevention and disaster mitigation, ranging from seismic hazard analysis to engineering and system-level risk assessment.
