"This visit has completely changed my perception of 'Made in China.' I discovered a vibrant China where history and modernity coexist in remarkable harmony." These were reflections shared by students from Western Carolina University, following the conclusion of their Ancient Capital, New Vitality themed exchange program at Beijing University of Technology.

During the visit, faculty members and students explored cutting-edge fields including new energy, artificial intelligence, and intelligent construction. They toured laboratories and teaching facilities related to new energy and intelligent construction at Beijing University of Technology, as well as the off-road vehicle production workshop of BAIC Group. From advanced energy-storage materials and intelligent human-computer interaction to robotic assembly, the visitors observed a wide range of innovative technologies and real-world applications firsthand. The visit also provided them with deeper insight into the University's latest scientific and technological achievements and its efforts to support the development of the capital.

Faculty members from the College of Foreign Languages delivered lectures on the topic Traditional Chinese Architecture and Urban Planning to the visiting faculty members and students from the United States. They also provided in-depth introductions to the World Heritage Status application for the Beijing Central Axis, the urban renewal project for Shougang Park, and the eco-friendly renovation of traditional Beijing courtyard residences. Through the program, the visitors gained a firsthand understanding of China's dynamic development and the enduring cultural heritage of the ancient capital.
