BJUT Holds Opening Ceremony for the Incoming Class of 2026

Traversing mountains and seas to gather in Beijing, the Incoming class of 2026 met at BJUT to embark on a new journey of dreams. On the morning of September 10, Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) held the Opening Ceremony for the Incoming Class of 2026. The ceremony was attended by representatives of university and college leaders, experts, faculty members, counselors, and class advisors, together with more than 9,100 undergraduate, graduate, and international students of the Incoming Class of 2026 from across China and from various countries and regions.

He Ming, Secretary of the CPC BJUT Committee, accepted on behalf of the University the gift Long Scroll of Signed Pledges, presented by a student representative of the Incoming Class of 2026.

President Qiao Junfei delivered a speech. On behalf of the University, he extended a warm welcome to all new students of the Incoming Class of 2026, sent Teachers' Day greetings to the faculty and staff who have worked diligently, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the parents for their silent support.

University leaders presented university badges to new student representatives, and all new students put on their badges on site. Each gleaming badge pinned to their chests marked that all new students had officially become members of BJUT. From then on, they will share the University's future and destiny and shoulder the responsibilities and honors of being a BJUTer.

University leaders presented letters of appointment to representatives of class advisors and counselors for the new students, and student representatives presented flowers to faculty representatives. Teachers are guides for students' growth and success, dedicated mentors and steadfast navigators for students' all-round development, and a vital force in promoting high-quality educational development in the new era. A letter of appointment embodies the mission of teaching and educating students, while a bouquet of flowers conveys students' gratitude and respect, highlighting the fine tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education.

Faculty representative Professor Du Xiuli, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, shared his expectations and hopes with the new students: First, like tamping a firm foundation, students should lay a solid foundation for their lives; second, like erecting beams and columns, they should forge outstanding capabilities; third, like installing a "shock absorber," the students should cultivate calm composure. He encouraged the students to keep their foundations firm, stand upright like beams and columns, maintain a calm mindset, and build their own "load-bearing structure" on the fertile ground of BJUT.

Chang Jiajie, an undergraduate from the College of Metropolitan Transportation, and Fan Chengyi, a graduate student from the College of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, spoke on behalf of the Class of 2026. They expressed their determination to rely on the University's strong research environment, discover their own strengths, and strive to compose a youthful chapter worthy of their prime and the times.
