Personal statement

Du Rui is an assistant research fellow and master degree's supervisor for Environmental Science and Engineering students, Beijing University of Technology, and is also affiliated with the National Engineering Laboratory for Advanced Municipal Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Technology. She was awarded the doctoral degree in 2018 and her research focuses on sustainable and cost-effective water and wastewater treatment, including biological wastewater treatment, novel technology development based on anammox combining with partial nitrification or partial denitrification, process optimization and control, resource reclamation, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reduction. Dr. Du has always been the recipient of much national and provincial-level research funding for her projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Postdoctoral Innovative Talents Support Program and Beijing Natural Science Foundation. She also harvested several awards (includingthe first Excellent Doctoral Dissertation from Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, outstanding winner of ORGANO (Water Quality and Water Environment) Scholarship, and won the title of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow. She is an elected member of the China Chapter of IWA Young Water Professionals (IWA-YWP China).
