Personal Statement
Yuxiang Hu, professor and doctoral supervisor at State Key Laboratory of Materials Low-Carbon Recycling, Beijing University of Technology (BJUT), is a National-level High-level Young Scholar, a Beijing Overseas High-level Talent, and a Beijing Distinguished Expert. He is the Deputy Dean of the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences, Deputy Director of the Beijing International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Carbon-based Nanomaterials, and Director of the BJUT High-Safety Metal Battery Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Base. Previously, he worked as a group leader at Dow Center and as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland (UQ). In 2012, he received a BSc degree in the School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering from Nanjing University and then obtained a master’s degree under the supervision of Prof. Jun Chen at Nankai University. He obtained a Ph.D. degree at UQ under the supervision of Prof. Lianzhou Wang.
His research focuses on high-safety energy storage, multivalent metal-ion batteries, photo/electrocatalytic hydrogen production, energy materials, and solar energy conversion. He has led projects under the National High-level Scholar Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) General and Young Scientists Fund, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission–Natural Science Foundation Joint Funding Project, and the Ministry of Education's Industry-University Cooperation Program. He has also worked on projects in the Ministry of Science and Technology's Key R&D Program. His work has led to the development and industrialization of several novel high-performance, high-safety battery materials.
Professor Hu has published over 70 SCI papers in leading journals, including Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and Angewandte Chemie. His work has been cited over 7,200 times, and he holds more than 20 patents. He serves on the editorial boards of journals such as eScience, SmartMat, and Tungsten and has chaired sessions at numerous conferences. He has received awards such as the National Outstanding Self-financed Chinese Student Award and the First Prize in Basic Research from the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
