Cultivation Characteristics

This major is oriented around the National and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional needs for the development of the materials industry. Upholding the concept of environmentally friendly materials, it emphasizes the interdisciplinary integration of "materials–resources–environment." This major adopts a broad-based talent cultivation model focused on "high quality, strong fundamentals, broad knowledge, and practical competence." The goal is to nurture high-caliber professionals who have an ecologically aware mindset, a solid foundation in engineering, broad professional knowledge, and innovative engineering capabilities, capable of serving the green and high-quality development of both existing and emerging materials industries.

Teaching Resources

Relying on China's key disciplines and a range of practical platforms—including the National Engineering Laboratory for Industrial Big-data Application Technology, the State Key Laboratory of Materials Low-Carbon Recycling, the Key Lab for Special Functional Materials of Ministry of Education,the Provincial and Ministerial Co-constructed Capital Collaborative Innovation Center of Resource Recycling and Material Technology (2011), the Beijing Engineering Research Center of Ecomaterials and LCA, and the Off-campus Talent Training Base of Higher Institutions of Beijing Municipality (BBMG Group)—the program is supported by a national teaching team in materials science and engineering led by academicians. It is also backed by an Innovative Research Group funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), a National College Huang-Danian-style Teaching Team, and innovation teams from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Beijing Municipality. The major has pioneered a new materials education model and curriculum system guided by the principles of resource conservation and environmental friendliness. Through integrated approaches such as industry-education collaboration, research-teaching synergy, project-based learning, and practice-driven innovation—it cultivates students' engineering innovation capabilities.
