Cultivation Characteristics

As a typical interdisciplinary major, Big Data Management and Application integrates both emerging engineering education and new liberal arts education. Leveraging the strengths of the Management Science and Engineering discipline (a Beijing key construction discipline) in financial, technological, and business big data, the major aims to cultivate high-level analytical, managerial, and decision-making professionals.These individuals will possess a strong sense of social responsibility and the ability to use big data methods and tools for quantitative analysis and management, providing big data management and application services such as data collection, integration, value mining, and governance for governments, enterprises, financial institutions, and others. This major was rated A-level in the 2024 ShanghaiRanking's Best Chinese Universities Ranking.

Teaching Resources

The major draws on platforms such as the National Strategic Research Center for the Construction of Science and Technology Innovation Highland, the Beijing Modern Manufacturing Development Research Base, and academic organizations including the Chinese Scholars Association for Management Science and Engineering, and governing units of the China Command and Control Society, as well as the International Conference on Business Intelligence, to explore a cross-disciplinary "Big Data +" education model.

Practical training is supported by facilities such as the Data Science and Virtual Simulation Laboratory, the Business Competition Simulation Laboratory, and the E-commerce Laboratory. Internship bases have been established with companies such as Beijing Finance Big Data Co., Ltd. and Beijing S-Labs Company to enhance students' innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities.
