About Research

By adhering to the scientific and technological development concept of “High-level Scientific Research Supporting High-quality Higher Education”, and the development policy of "Collaborative Innovation, High-end Guidance and Service to Beijing", BJUT promotes the construction of internationally renowned, characteristic and high-level research universities with solid and distinctive scientific research. The University attaches great importance to basic research, applied research and high-tech research and development, and vigorously promotes the transformation of achievements. The overall scientific and technological strength continues to increase.

By now BJUT has two National Engineering Laboratories, one National-Level Production, Learning and Research Center, one International Cooperative Research Center, one National Key Laboratory Breeding Base jointly built by provincial and ministerial institutions, eight Key Laboratories or Engineering Research Centers of the Ministry of Education, one Strategic Research Breeding Base of the Ministry of Education, thirty Beijing Key Laboratories or Engineering Research Centers, ten Beijing International Science and Technology Cooperative Bases, four key Industrial Laboratories, three Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Research Bases, and one Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era Beijing Research Center. In addition, BJUT has one Collaborate Innovation Center jointly built by provincial and ministerial institutions, three Beijing Collaborate Innovation Centers, and one Beijing Future Network High-Technology Innovation Center.

According to the statistics released by the Ministry of Education, from the "12th Five-Year Plan" period up to last year (2011-2019), BJUT had won 21 National Science and Technology Prizes and obtained 7.46 billion RMB for its research funds, of which 940 million RMB was obtained during the year of 2019 alone. In 2019, BJUT obtained 140 projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China.
