· BJUT Successfully Hosts the 2023 Beijing Interdisciplinary Science Conference

From August 18th to 21st, the 2023 Beijing Interdisciplinary Science Conference was successfully held, co-hosted by the Beijing Interdisciplinary Science Society, Beijing University of Technology, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Beijing Union University. During the conference, more than 1,200 participants attended offline forums, while nearly 30,000 people participated in related activities online.

This conference is the first high-profile academic event hosted by the Beijing Interdisciplinary Science Society since its foundation, marking a milestone in the field of interdisciplinary science in China. With the theme "The New Era of Interdisciplinary Science", the conference was attended by a wide range of participants, including eminent academicians from various disciplines, leading experts, distinguished professors, industry pioneers, as well as faculty and student representatives from top universities across the country. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and technical exchanges on topics related to national strategies, cutting-edge technologies, and interdisciplinary science. A number of academicians delivered keynote presentations, touching on themes such as the intersection of basic science and advanced technologies, achieving peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, digital and intelligent technologies, and bionic technology.

Focusing on cutting-edge topics and current basic challenges, experts and scholars at the conference reached a collective understanding on several key priorities. These included the importance of steadfastly pursuing independent research and development, the need for the deep investigation of interdisciplinary science, strategically capitalizing on new opportunities presented by revolutions in technology and transformations in industry, proactively nurturing future industries through the commercialization of linked scientific and technological (sci-tec) achievements, and gaining a competitive edge in the next wave of global technological and industrial advances.

The conference also introduced a variety of awards, which included the "Academic Rising Star", "Best Presentation", and "Best Poster" awards. These awards serve to encourage more young scholars to delve into interdisciplinary science research, thereby injecting new vitality into the advancement of interdisciplinary fields in China.
