The First "Belt and Road" International Academic Conference and the 10th China (International) Forum of Future-Oriented Technology Analysis Open in BJUT

From July 29 to 30, the first “Belt and Road” International Academic Conference and the 10th China (International) Forum of Future-Oriented Technology Analysis sponsored and organized by the Sino-Polish University Consortium (SPUC) under the “Belt and Road” Initiative, Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance (BHUA), Beijing University of Technology (BJUT), China Society of Technology Economics (CSTE) Management of Technology (MOT) Committee, China Association for Science of Science and S&T Policy Technology Foresight Committee, Chinese Institute of Business Administration Emerging Technology Management Committee was held in BJUT. More than 200 experts, scholars and students from more than 60 universities and institutions from Japan, UK, South Korea, Poland, China and other countries attended the event. The theme of the forum is “Scientific and Technological Innovation in the Age of Ageing Society and Artificial Intelligence”. Vice President Liu Jianping of BJUT attended the opening ceremony and delivered welcome remarks. Professor Huang Lucheng was Chairman of the forum.

Vice President Liu Jianping extended warm welcomes and sincere gratitude to forum participants and gave a general account of BJUT. She noted that future-oriented technology analysis and management was crucial to corporate management. It has been ten years since BJUT initiated the China Forum of Future-Oriented Technology Analysis. The Forum has become a flagship academic event for the management department of BJUT and a platform for scholars at home and abroad to share knowledge, exchange information and seek common development. She hoped that researchers could fully exchange with each other at the forum, improving BJUT’s academic exchange, discipline construction, and global development level, and making intellectual contributions to the development of technology economics.

At the forum, Shen Zhiyu, Vice President of Chinese Institute of Business Administration delivered a speech on behalf of his organization and congratulated the convening of the forum. Professor Chen Jing, Professor Lei Jiasu from Tsinghua University, Professor Yin Lu from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Professor Kazuyuki Motohashi from the University of Tokyo, Professor Kumiko Miyazaki from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Associate Professor Nazrul Islam from the University of Exeter, Dr. Frank Tietze from the University of Cambridge, Professor Huang Lucheng, Professor Li Jian and Associate Researcher Li Xin from BJUT impressed the audience with their keynote presentations.

Internationally renowned journal IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management held a workshop on “Technology and Engineering Management in China” and organized “Face-to-face with Editors” during the forum. A number of scholars and postgraduate students participated in the events and exchanged with each other about their studies.

After the main forum and parallel sessions, Dr. Frank Tietze from the University of Cambridge, Departmental Editor of IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, announced the two recommended papers and granted Certificate of Merit to the authors on behalf of expert reviewers. Last but not least, Professor Li Zili from National University of Defense Technology summarized the forum.

So far, the two economics and management sessions under the “Belt and Road” International Academic Conferences have been completed successfully. Subsequent sessions focusing on fields of physics and biological sciences, urban construction, and environment and energy will be held from September to November, including the Knotted Field Theory with Application in Physics & Biological Sciences Symposium & Colloquium, International Forum on Intelligent & Connected Roads and Sustainable Development, and Forum on Low-carbon Urban Development.
