· 3 National Standards Published and Implemented

On March 31, according to the National Standards Announcement of the People’s Republic of China (No.4 of 2020), three national standards have been published and implemented under the aegis of the College of Materials Science and Engineering of BJUT. The three standards include GB/T 38711-2020,Test method for ultra-thin glass reheating line shrinkage—Laser method; GB/T 38686-2020,Test method for flexibility of ultra-thin glass—Two-point bending method; GB/T 38712-2020,Test method for thermal conductivity coefficient of ultra-thin glass—Heat flow method. Tian Yingliang, Wang Wei and Sun Shibing, three professors from the College of Materials Science and Engineering, were responsible for system establishment and verification tests of these three national standards. China’s 12 relevant units participated in the formulation of the standards.

The three national standards focus on performance evaluation and representation of ultra-thin electronic glass materials under the guidance of development needs of the photoelectric display industry, responding to the formulation plan of the standards of national strategic emerging industries, and solving the demand for the standards of product inspection, quality control, international trade and scientific research.

On December 28, 2017, three national standards were approved by the Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China. On March 22, 2018, the Initiation Meeting for Three National Standards & the First Work Meeting were held at BJUT. Afterwards, several technical seminars were held and a large number of verification tests were carried out to establish evaluation methods, testing devices and experimental procedures for the three standards. On May 25, 2019, more than 70 committee members and experts voted to approve the three standards at the examination meeting of standards held by the National Technical Committee on Industrial Glass and Special Glass of Standardization Administration of China (TC447) in Beijing. In October 2019, the three standards were submitted to the Standardization Administration after being modified and improved according to the feedback from the examination meeting.

The three national standards have yet to be internationalized. In the process of establishing standards, the working group carried out a large number of verification tests with a pragmatic and innovative spirit, and widely absorbed opinions and suggestions to set innovative, advanced, maneuverable and precise standards. The three national standards have improved the standard system for electronic glass in China’s display field, which is of great significance for enhancing the quality of China’s ultra-thin electronic glass, ensuring the healthy development of China’s electronic information industry, and consolidating the international position of China’s ultra-thin electronic glass industry.
