Delegation led by Michael Hood visits BJUT

On November 24th, 2023, Professor Michael Hood, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, visited Beijing University of Technology (BJUT). BJUT President Nie Zuoren met with Professor Hood and the delegation.

Nie Zuoren warmly greeted Professor Hood and his delegation and shared information about the University's history, disciplines, and strategic initiatives in areas such as carbon neutrality, urban renewal, and artificial intelligence. He reviewed BJUT's successful hosting of the Fifth Global Grand Challenges Summit, emphasized the importance of international scientific and technological cooperation, and hoped that both parties would further deepen exchanges and cooperation.

Professor Hood thanked BJUT for its warm reception and presented his research findings in mining, climate change, and decarbonization. As an Emeritus Professor at the University of Queensland, he presented an overview of the University and its collaboration with China. He also expressed his willingness to explore new opportunities for collaboration with BJUT.

Following the meeting, Professor Hood visited the Experiment Center for Engineering Structure and the Experiment Center for Geotechnical and Underground Engineering. He also delivered an academic lecture titled "Getting to Net Zero Carbon Emissions", which gained an enthusiastic response from faculty members and students.
