In order to promote the development goal of Beijing University of Technology as an "internationally renowned, distinctive and high-level university", our university vigorously promotes the implementation of the open university strategy and is committed to cultivating a large number of high-quality applications that are well-versed in international rules, have international competitiveness and international vision Innovative talents. As an important way for the university to cultivate international talents, the university has opened a series of high-quality study abroad programs for undergraduates and graduate students.

At present, our university has formally established cooperative partner relations with 174 overseas universities and institutions in 33 countries and regions, and signed 270 various cooperation agreements. More than 70 study abroad programs of different levels and different forms have been established, including student exchange programs, double degree programs, BMEC funded study abroad programs, bachelor-master connection programs, summer and winter short-term programs, joint training programs, and etc. We aim to provide comprehensive support for the international cultivation of students and make the full use of the educational resources of overseas first-class universities.
In 2019, a total number of 1,009 BJUT students rely on various forms of projects to study abroad for long-term and short-term programs. Among them, 149 undergraduates went to overseas universities to carry out no less than one semester long-term exchange programs; 555 students went to overseas short-term programs through summer and winter programs, international volunteer programs, international competitions, culture and sports activities and etc. The quality of programs has steadily improved, 87% of long-term program students went to the QS ranking top 700 universities, and 73% of short-term program students went to the QS ranking top 200 universities. The oversea further study rate of bachelor graduates in 2019 reached 24.37%, a record high.
