BJUT has been committed to creating comparative advantages, focusing on four distinctive areas of "carbon neutrality, urban renewal, artificial intelligence, and high-end think tanks". 10 BJUT's disciplines entered Top 500 of the QS World University Rankings by Subject. 11 disciplines including Engineering, Materials Sciences, Chemistry, Environment & Ecology, Computer Science, Biology & Biochemistry, General Social Sciences, Physics, Geosciences, Clinical Medicine, and Mathematics entered Top 1% of the ESI Rankings, among which Engineering ranked Top 1‰. In 2023, the University ranked among top 50 Chinese universities in terms of technological innovation capabilities.
The BJUT research teams have been pursuing scientific excellence, evidenced by the publications of our achievements in basic research in the top journal Science and Nature. The University has played an active part in the construction of major world-class scientific facilities, joining hands with the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2023, BJUT has initiated the construction of the State Key Laboratory of Bridge Engineering Safety and Resilience, contributing to the nation's strategic strength building in science and technology. With significant breakthroughs achieved in key core technologies, the BJUT research teams have overcome major challenges in manned spaceflight, providing solid support for the in-orbit service of the Tiangong Space Station, and other national and capital construction projects.
