About the Library
Originally founded in 1960, BJUT Library currently has two buildings available with several location transitions, locating separately at the Main Campus and the Tongzhou Campus.
The Main Campus Library commenced trial operation in September 2019, with an overall floor area of over 40,000 square meters and 3,000 seats, and the Tongzhou Campus Library has a floor space of over 2,000 square meters and 500 seats.
The library realizes full open-shelf based on a layout of integration of collecting, circulating, reading and consulting and its weekly open hours amount to 100.5.
Up to now, the library houses approximately 2,000,000 volumes of printed books, nearly 1,600 kinds of printed periodicals and abundant electronic databases covering most subject disciplines. Aggressive growth in the Library's electronic assets ensures a balanced representation of resources in all formats. BJUT Library is a wonderful gathering place to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University community.
In addition to traditional loan services, the library provides a range of professional services such as sci-tech novelty retrieval, interlibrary loan, database retrieval, literature retrieval teaching, intelligence analysis, intellectual property, surfing and self-service loan.
In cooperation with Capital Library and Library of Chinese Academy of Sciences, BJUT Library enjoys the construction and sharing of information resource. Being a member of OCLC, CALIS and BALIS, BJUT Library dedicates itself to provide resources and services in the following aspects such as group purchase of databases, online cooperative cataloguing, construction of full-text databases of teaching reference books, collaborative reference service and interlibrary loan.
