· Academician Peng Yongzhen Ranked Among the Top 10 Scientists in Environmental Science

On November 22, the names of "The Top 100 Thousand Global Scientists" were announced by Globalauthorid.com. Thirty-four scholars from BJUT are included in the list, including Prof. Peng Yongzhen, a member of CAE, and Prof. Li Jianrong from the Faculty of Environment and Life. Prof. Peng has been ranked among the Top 10 scientists from Chinese mainland in the area of environmental science research.

Prof. Peng has led a research team on biological nitrogen removal technology for wastewater for more than three decades. Since 2001, nearly 300 papers he published as the first author has been included in the Science Citation Index, 180 of which have impact factors above 9.0. Since 2009, Prof. Peng has had the greatest number of publications and citations in the field of wastewater treatment, both in China and globally, and by November 2021, fourteen of these have been classified as "high cited papers" in the ESI list. His and his team's findings in the area of biological wastewater treatment have recently won the State Technological Innovation Award Second Prize and three provincial and ministerial level Science and Technology Progress First Prizes.

According to a publication about cutting-edge research areas in 2020 co-released by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Clarivate, ANAMMOX and its application in wastewater treatment is the most important current topic in the field of environmental science. China has currently taken a lead in publications in this area. Beijing University of Technology (China) and Technische Universiteit Delft (the Netherlands) are the top two leading universities in this field globally.

“The Top 100 Global Scientists” list's ranking is arrived at by a core scoring process based on in-depth analysis of the rigor of the academic papers published by these scholars. All the listed scientists’ papers are accessible to the public, allowing readers to follow and verify the accuracy of the data themselves. It is an important reference base for researchers to understand the work of experts in their different fields.
