· Faculty of Information Technology Contributes Its Expertise to the "Ice Ribbon"

The National Speed Skating Oval, also known as the "Ice Ribbon", is the landmark venue in the Beijing competition zone and the only new skating venue built for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The research team from the Faculty of Information Technology of BJUT developed a system that features intelligent environment monitoring and data aggregation and sharing, for the National Speed Skating Oval. The system encompasses the real-time collection, transmission, sharing and visual display of environmental data in various sections of the venue, helps carry out real-time monitoring and constant control of the venue's environmental status, and contributes to the high-quality viewing experience and fine management of the venue.

Since April 2018, the team led by Prof. Lin Shaofu from the Faculty of Information Technology has analyzed the demands and difficulties of designing and building this smart venue with other technical experts and the construction companies involved. On this basis, the team set the goal of "providing a comfortable environment, first-class services and an interactive experience for all participants in the Winter games, and ensuring the sustainable operation of the venue after the Games.”

As a result of the integration and application of the advanced technologies, the Faculty of Information Technology has contributed "BJUT wisdom" to a green "Ice Ribbon".
