Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) recently gained approval from China's Ministry of Transport as a pilot university to explore ways of building China into a country with strong transport networks. Since the start of the pilot program in 2019, only ten universities have been selected.

BJUT's Transport Engineering program focuses on severe traffic congestion in cities such as Beijing, and other major needs of China's transport industry. The approach followed by this program features the digitalization of urban transport. In concert with international trends and China's national strategy, BJUT has built a series of large-scale, high-quality professional experimental platforms. Leveraging on the University's interdisciplinary advantages, BJUT has also built a series of full-chain scientific research and innovation platforms jointly with enterprises, public institutions, and important government authorities such as the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport and the Ministry of Transport.

The University has been promoting the application of scientific research outcomes for social purposes. To achieve more technological breakthroughs for major national strategies, including building China into a transport powerhouse and the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, BJUT has led important projects under the National Key R&D Program and has participated in national major projects including the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the construction of Xiong'an New Area.

In the future, BJUT will continue to give full play to the advantages of its disciplines, platforms, and talented individuals, and will contribute more to building China into a transport powerhouse.
