On June 22, Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) hosted a Symposium of Theoretical and Engineering Progress in Deep and Ultra Deep Well. During the event, the University inaugurated its new Oil and Gas Engineering Research Institute. The Symposium was attended by Jiang Zeting, Secretary of the CPC BJUT Committee; Nie Zuoren, President of BJUT and Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; and over 100 scholars and experts from more than 20 organizations such as China National Petroleum Corporation, Sinopec, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Petroleum(Beijing), Northeast Petroleum University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing Information Science and Technology University, and Yangtze University.
Jiang Zeting, Nie Zuoren, Su Yinao from the CNPC Engineering Technology R&D Company Ltd., and Gao Deli from China University of Petroleum (Beijing) unveiled the plaque for the Oil and Gas Engineering Research Institute at BJUT. The Symposium's opening ceremony was hosted by Chen Shujun, Vice President of BJUT.
In his speech, Nie Zuoren, on behalf of the University, warmly welcomed the guests, experts, and scholars attending the Symposium. He stated that the establishment of the Oil and Gas Engineering Research Institute marks a significant step for the University in advancing into the oil and gas sector and to fully support major national strategies. BJUT will actively leverage on the Institute touseits strengths in relevant fields, enhance collaboration with petroleum enterprises and research institutions, and to collectively contribute to scientific research, talent cultivation, and the technological development of China's oil industry.
Sun Jinsheng from the CNPC Engineering Technology Research Institute noted in his speech that in recent years, an increasing number of universities and research institutions have joined efforts in the field of petroleum science to foster technological advances, significantly enhancing China's petroleum research capabilities. He highlighted BJUT's notable strengths in information technology, materials science, and machine design and manufacturing, expressing his hope that the establishment of the Oil and Gas Engineering Research Institute at BJUT will further strengthen collaboration between the two institutes and lead to greater joint contributions to China's petroleum research and technological advancements.
In the keynote session, a number of experts and scholars engaged in in-depth discussions of critical issues in petroleum technology. Participants noted that the Symposium brought together top experts and scholars from the domestic oil and gas sector to exchange ideas, yielding fruitful outcomes. They agreed that the event significantly contributed to advancing China's theoretical and practical engineering capabilities in the field of deep and ultra-deep well technologies.
