Opole Confucius Institute was formally established on October 8, 2008 under the joint management of two host universities, Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) and Opole University of Technology (OUT) in Poland.
With the support of Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the joint efforts from BJUT and OUT, Opole Confucius Institute now has a main teaching area of 450 square meters and a branch campus of about 40 square meters. It not only offers regular Chinese teaching courses but also organizes a series of cultural experience activities and hosts international conferences.

(2019 “Chinese Bridge” Competition for Universities and Middle School Students in Opole Confucius Institute)
While integrating into the development of OUT and the city of Opole, the Institute also supports the Polish universities' role in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and helps the Polish universities to establish partnerships with universities in countries along the Belt and Road . The Institute seeks development with its own characteristics while opening up new opportunities for the BRI.

Beijing University of Technology officially released the White Paper on the Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) China-Poland University Alliance (2017 - 2020) at the Beijing International Education Service Achievements (Higher Education) Release Event which held during the China International Fair for Trade in Services in 2021. The White Paper comprehensively presents the abundant achievements the BRI China-Poland University Alliance has made since its inception in 2017. Guided by the principles of "voluntary equality, open sharing, win-win cooperation, and innovative development," the alliance has established various platforms and organized distinctive activities. These initiatives have facilitated mutual learning between Chinese and Polish civilizations and enhanced people-to-people understanding.


In 2022, Gong Wenjing, a faculty member of our university and the Chinese Director of the Opole Confucius Institute, was awarded the "Sino-Polish Friendly Exchange Contribution Award" by the Silesian Branch of the Polish-Chinese Friendship Association.In 2023, the Opole Confucius Institute was honored with the "Opole Province Quality Award" as the sole language education institution.

A six-member delegation led by Zuzanna Donath-Kasiura, Vice Governor of Opole Province in Poland, visited our university in September, 2023. The delegation expressed that Opole Province would continue to pay attention to and support the development of the Opole Confucius Institute, and would keep promoting educational and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Poland.

A delegation led by Qiao Junfei, Vice President of our university, visited Poland to attend the 15th Anniversary Celebration of the Opole Confucius Institute and delivered a speech in October, 2023. The only full-body statue of Confucius shipped from China was unveiled at the Opole Confucius Institute in Poland.


(2024 Chinese Cultural Experience Class)
A delegation of educators from the Opole Province of Poland visited BJUT in October, 2024. Both sides reviewed the good achievements of friendly cooperation and reached a consensus on further deepening educational and cultural exchanges. The delegation visited the BJUT library and the Folk Art Museum of the School of Art and Design, and went to the BJUT Affiliated High School for an exchange.


The Council Meeting of the BJUT-OUT Confucius Institute(CI) was held in November 2024. The Chinese and Poland sides of the CI reported on their work reports, financial implementation and work plans for the next year, reaching a consensus on working together to promote the development of the CI and enhancing people-to-people bonds between the two countries.

The Opole Confucius Institute held a "Chinese Spring Festival Cultural Ball" in Opole in February, 2025, Poland. Nearly 120 representatives from various sectors, including the Deputy Governor of Opole Province, the Mayor of Krapkowice, the Provincial School Inspector of Opole, and Chinese staff from the Confucius Institute, attended the event to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year and experience the unique charm of Chinese culture.
