Team from BJUT Institute of Laser Engineering Won Award in Beijing International “Nano-Star” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

In 2015, the 1st Community Entrepreneurship Cup China·Beijing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, themed with new materials, new energies and energy conservation and environment protection, and Beijing International “Nano-Star” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were held in Beijing. “Guangxing Tianxia” team from BJUT Institute of Laser Engineering participated in this competition with a project of “Ultra-short Pulse Fiber Laser”. This team, comprised of Mr. Liu Jiang (a teacher) and some doctoral students like Sun Ruoyu, Jin Dongchen and Cheng Zhaochen, stood out in all these teams and won the 3rd Prize.

This competition, held in Nano-technology Industrial Park of Yanqi Development Zone in Huairou District, Beijing, was an important part of the 4th Chinese Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Beijing Area. Meantime, it was also the 1st Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition sponsored by Beijing Nano-technology Industry Union for global new material field. It took 123 days from April 15th 2015 to August 18th 2015, with 212 participating projects. At last, 10 projects were awarded the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes.

These projects combined the advantages of novel nano materials and ultra-short pulse fiber laser, and they lowered the costs by using advanced technologies, which will contribute to broadening domestic laser market and breaking overseas technical monopoly. In addition, they facilitated the industrial promotion of advanced technology and engineering prototypes depending on the scientific research platform in high schools, which is significant for the long-term development.
