A Big Data Forum was organized on January 18^th jointly by BJUT and the Beijing Institute of Big Data Research to promote interdisciplinary exchange and cooperation and to enhance the research capability of BJUT in basic computing theories and applications of big data.

Nie Zuoren, Vice President of BJUT, stated that BJUT would pay great attention and give full support to the development of the Beijing Institute of Big Data Research. He said that BJUT will collaborate with other institutes including Peking University to develop the Institute into a global research and development centre of excellence, and a base for transfer of innovations for cultivating high-level talents. BJUT’s involvement will enhance Beijing’s city service and support capabilities, and also contribute to the development of China’s big data industry.

The Forum was divided into two parts. One part consisted of the keynote speech and sessions in different fields.29 specialists and scholars from related fields were invited to give presentations. There were over 300 attendees, including specialists from Zhongguancun Big Data Industry Alliance, Beijing Institute of Big Data Research, Tsinghua University, Beijing Digital Hail Technology Co., Ltd., as well as staff and students from BJUT.
