On March 22nd, British QS Global Education Group released the 2016 QS Global Universities Discipline Ranking. 65 disciplines within 7 Chinese universities marched into Top 50, comparing to only 50 disciplines marched into Top 50 last year.
On the ranking list, Chinese disciplines within 88 Chinese universities entered into the Global Top 400, just rank after the United States, which has disciplines of 164 universities in the Global Top 400. Britain ranks the third.
5 disciplines of BJUT appeared in the list of Top 400, with Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering of Aeronautics and Astronautics ranking between 151-200, Electrical and Electronic Engineering ranking between 251-300, Computer Science and Information System ranking between 301-350 and Chemistry and Mathematics ranking between 301- 400.
According to QS Global Education Group, this ranking was based on the Overall Assessment on Disciplines by 760 thousand authorized experts in the past 5 years and the evaluation on the Employment Competitiveness of Graduates from Employers, as well as the Data Analysis of Scopus, the biggest database in the world.
QS Global Education Group, established in 1990, provides research and information on higher education and occupation, including information of world rankings and regional rankings of universities. There are 4 criteria within QS Global Universities Discipline Ranking: Academic Peer Review, Employer Review, Reference Citations and Frequently- Cited Papers. Of course, the proportions of these criteria differ a lot within different disciplines.
This is the 6th QS Global Universities Discipline Ranking released by the QS Global Education Group. Beside the Global Universities Discipline Ranking, it also releases QS World University rankings every year, which is known as one of the three most powerful world university rankings together with Times Higher Education World University Ranking and Academic Ranking of World Universities.
