Recently, Chinese Optical Society released the name list of 2015 Wang Daheng Optical Award. Zheng Chong, doctorate student from Institute of Laser Engineering of BJUT, was on the list of College Student Optical Award. This was the 5th time for optical engineering graduate students of BJUT to receive this honor.
Launched in 1996 Chinese Optical Society, Wang Daheng Optical Award was funded and established by Prof. Wang Daheng, expert on “Two Bombs and One Satellite” and academician of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering. Being granted every year, it aims to encourage young and middle-aged S & T workers and college students in the field of optics and optical engineering to make more efforts in innovation and development.
Zheng Chong currently is a doctoral student supervised by Prof. Chen Tao in BJUT, with his doctorate study starting from 2012. From June 2014 to December 2014, he participated in the joint cultivation program in the University of Tennessee co-supervised by Prof. Hu Anming. His research mainly focuses on areas including the principles of microfluidics bionic driver, the mechanism, process and application of the micromachining technology of femtosecond laser-micro-engraving in integrated microfluidic chip. In addition, as the first author, he has published 3 academic papers in international journals in optical field (Small, Optics Express, and Applied Physics A) and 2 conference papers retrieved by EI. Also, he applied 6 patents at home and abroad, with 2 being authorized.
Further, his publication on Small (IF 8.368) was selected for promotion as a published article; he article published on Optical Express (IF 3.488) was selected to publish on Virtual Journal for Biomedical Optics, the special issue of OSA Publishing. During those years of study, he had participated in domestic and international academic conferences for many times and made oral reports for 3 times. Besides, he had been awarded PhD National Scholarship by the Ministry of Education, BJUT Academic Scholarship, BJUT Technology Innovation Award and BJUT 2015 “Technology Talent” Award, etc.
