Department of Information Engineering of BJUT Pilot College Won Two Championships in 2016 RoboCup China Open

From April 26th to April 28th 2016, 2016 RoboCup China Open was held in Hefei, Anhui Province, with about 300 participation teams from all over the country. Of those teams, middle-size Robot program involved top teams from schools including Beijing Information Science & Technology University (the Champion of 2015 RoboCup), National University of Defense Technology and Beijing Institute of Technology.

A team comprised of 13 students including Lu Ning, Li Sihan, Zhang Zihao and Zhu Shaoqing from BJUT participated in the competition. After several rounds of battles, BJUT team won two championships in the Technology Challenge and Dual Meet. This was the best result BJUT had achieved since its first involvement in 2011. Many local media reported this result, which brought great honor to BJUT.

RoboCup Competition in China is an authoritative competition in Robotic area, covering the main direction and hot issues of the research on intelligent robots. BJUT team participated in the middle-size program, which was one of the core competitions due to its fierceness on competition and strictness on hardware platform and algorithm design.

Before the competition, teachers including Fan Qingwu, Liu Xudong and Huang Jing from the department of Information Engineering offered meticulous guidance to these students, and the relevant departments of BJUT also provided strong support. This team had made full preparation including studying the tactics of rivalries and technology bugs that might exist. During the competition, BJUT team exerted great efforts and strived to succeed and achieve excellent result. This not only helped enhance the external image of BJUT, but also proved the strong practical ability of BJUT students, which laid a good foundation for the continuing reform on related education and teaching.
