On June 1st, 2016, “Seminar of Traffic Big Data and Intelligent Transportation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei”, hosted by BJUT and undertaken by “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Collaborative Innovation Alliance” and “Beijing Urban Traffic Coordination Innovation Center”, was held in BDIC. Xing Yongjie, Director of Social Development Department of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Ge Yu, Director of Science and Technology Department of Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, Cheng Jin, Director of Planning Department of Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission, Sun Shizhong, Director of Planning Department of Transportation Department of Hebei province, Zuo Haibo, Director of Hebei Province Expressway Control Center, Nie Zuoren, Vice President of BJUT, Liu Wei, Director of International Liaison Department, , and Yang Dengcai, Vice President of Science and Technology Development Institute, attended the seminar; and over  60 experts and scholars participated in the seminar, whom came from universities, enterprises or institutions in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, such as Beijing Transportation Information Center, Beijing Municipal Transportation Operations Coordination Center, China TransInfo Technology Co., Ltd, BOCO Inter-Telecom Co., Ltd, Electronic and Information Engineering Institute of Tianjin University of Technology, Computer Science and Software Engineering Institute and School of Civil Engineering and Transportation of Hebei University of Technology, College of Metropolitan Transportation of BJUT. Chen Yanyan, Dean of College of Metropolitan Transportation, BJUT, chaired the Seminar.

Nie Zuoren, Vice president of BJUT, addressed that the integration of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei was a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee and the State Council aiming to promote leapfrog development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. Traffic integration, as a prospector strategy of the integration of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, was an important support and the basic premise of the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. To discuss the difficulties, problems, and challenges during the traffic integration and to explore collaborative development strategy were responsibilities and obligations of universities and transportation practitioners in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. Furthermore, BJUT has laid solid basis in the application of traffic data and intelligent transportation, attached great importance to and fully supported the establishment of “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Transportation Collaborative Innovation Center”. It is expected that, through this seminar, the university alliance could comb the achievements in scientific research in the past year and focused more on the social demands and traffic difficulties of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, and carried out joint research actively with the governments, enterprises and other units and promoted the transformation of the research results in order to build this Center into the technology research and development base of traffic data, the joint cultivation bases of high level traffic talent, and the high-end research base of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei traffic integration significant demand.

Xing Yongjie , Director of Social Development Department of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Cheng Jin, Director of Planning Department of Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission, Sun Shizhong, Director of Planning Department of Transportation Department of Hebei province, and Zuo Haibo , Director of Hebei Province Expressway Control Center, introduced traffic science and technology development strategy, plans and requirements of the three regions respectively, and were consistent with the view that big data contributed to master the operation rule of urban agglomeration transportation system, which could supply comprehensive decision based on data evidence for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei in promoting transportation management of “Planning the same map, Construction of synchronization, Transport convergence, Management synergy”. In addition, representative of enterprises, i.e. Dong Xiao, General Manager of China TransInfo Technology Co., Ltd,. and Chi Hongchao, General Manager of BOCO Inter-Telecom Co., Ltd., introduced the latest developments in the mining of traffic data and the application of intelligent traffic technology separately.

Chen Yanyan, Dean of College of Metropolitan Transportation from BJUT, Wang Jianming, Dean of Electronic and Information Engineering Institute of Tianjin University of Technology, and Gu Junhua, Dean of Computer Science and Software Engineering Institute of Hebei University of Technology, respectively introduced the annual work and main achievements of the three universities under the framework of “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Transportation Collaborative Innovation Center”.

After the seminar, experts visited “Beijing Urban Traffic Coordination Innovation Center” and “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Transportation Collaborative Innovation Center” and exchanged ideas extensively on annual work plans together with the representatives from enterprises. They made it clear that the construction of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei traffic big data platform would be the next annual work focus, and further enhanced and deepened cooperation through setting open research topics, exchanging visits of young teachers and jointly organizing students’ science and technology competitions and other initiatives.

The host of this seminar has effectively promoted the exchange and coordination of Universities of technology in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, which laid a solid foundation for further exploration of the integration of collaborative innovation model and promotion of the result quality and value transformation of the traffic data.
