On June 5^th, 2016, the Capital Universities Swimming Championship was successfully held in Beijing Police College (BPC). Li Ruchuan, Political Commissar of BPC, Liu Jianping, Vice President of BJUT, Liu Qixiao, Secretary General of Federation of University Sports of Beijing, Huang Tao, Party Branch Secretary of Department of Physical Education and Liu Zhenqing, Deputy Director of Department of Physical Education attended the opening ceremony and delivered opening remarks. At the opening ceremony, leaders emphasized the importance of this competition, raised higher requirements to all the referees, coaches and athletes, and voiced their hope that all participants could work together to create brilliancy.

This competition, organized by Federation of University Sports of Beijing and Swimming Branch of Federation of University Sports of Beijing, co-held by Beijing Police College, attracted many excellent swimming teams from universities in Beijing including BJUT, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Foreign Studies University. BJUT swimming team, led by Li Xin and coached by Li Gang and Chen Zuo, was consisted of 21 undergraduate students (13 boys and 8 girls) from College of Economics and Management.

After a day of intense competition, BJUT has won 8 first-place prizes, 5 second-place prizes and 6 third-place prizes. In the meanwhile, BJUT won the first place in Male A Group Competition with superior performance and a total 129 points, and the fourth place in Female A Group Competition. In the end, BJUT won the second place in A Group Competition with a total score of 242.5 points.
Besides from achieving great competition results, BJUT swimming team also abided by the competition disciplines in strict accordance with the requirements of the organization committee, behaved with great courtesy and modesty and showed the excellent sports spirit and style of the college athletes. Fang Tianyu, Pang Yidan, Qin Pei and Qu Daorong from College of Economics and Management won the title of excellent sports team. BJUT also won the Sports Morality Award.
