In order to deepen the communication between young people from Beijing and Hongkong, enrich their communicative activities and develop their friendship, BJUT League Committee has been actively taking measures to launch the Young Partner Communication Camp since 2015, with accordance to the requirements of “Hand-in-hand Growth” Program co-established by Beijing Municipal Committee and Beijing Youth Federation. This year, the communication camp attracted 130 young people from Hongkong who will become partners with BJUT students in form of “1+1” to jointly participate in various activities. After a few weeks of communication and sharing, participants are expected to gain comprehensive improvement.
June 18th was the first meeting between representatives from both sides. They went to Summer Palace together and learnt about each other during the trip. The friendship was quickly developed which became a foundation for later communication activities.
On June 19th, the Opening Ceremony of 2016 Beijing-Hongkong Young Partner Communication Camp was smoothly held. Liu Zidi, Director of the Minister of China Youth Development Service Center, and Li Dan, from the same center, attended the ceremony. More than one hundred young people from 8 universities in Hongkong including University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and 50 student representatives from BJUT participated in the opening ceremony.
Student representatives from both sides exchanged gifts and took pictures together, as part of the opening ceremony.
With the goal of deepening and expanding the communication between young people from Beijing and Hongkong, this activity is themed with “Promoting Beijing-Hongkong Cultural Communication and Enhancing Young People’s Quality’. During this one-and-half-month program, students will participate in a series of activities including BJUT campus tour, Badminton friendship game, concerts, traditional Beijing culture appreciation, sightseeing and voluntary community service etc. All these well-organized activities will enable Hongkong young people to know more about BJUT and also help the mutual understanding and common development between young people from Hongkong and BJUT.
