On August 29, 2016, the 10th China-Japan Symposium on Automobile Industry and Beijing Modern Manufacturing Base Symposium were held in the College of Economics and Management in BJUT. Seventy experts and scholars from the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Sapporo University, Kyushu University, Josai University, Beijing University of Technology, and North China University of Technology attended this conference.
Mr. Liu Chao, Dean of the College of Economics and Management, expressed his welcome to the participants from far away at first and then he introduced the history and future development of the Beijing Modern Manufacturing Development Research Base as well as the situation and the development trend of Chinese automobile industry. Professor Ueyama Kunio from Josai University delivered the opening speech. He looked back to the 10 years history of the China-Japan Symposium on Automobile Industry and expressed his gratitude to the great support from the College of Economics and Management.
Mr. Hou Fushen, vice secretary of Society of Automotive Engineers of China, Mr. Xu Limin, vice director of the Office of Planning under BAIC Motor Corporation, Mr. Niiya Masashi, chief representative of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (Beijing Office), Professor Shiochi You from Kyoto University, Professor Ueyama Kunio from Josai University, Associate Professor Stefan Heim from Kyoto University, Mr. Kakiya Kousukei, representative from the Toyota Motor Corporation, Professor Zhao Lixiang from the College of Economics and Management and Mr. Liu Chao all delivered speeches.
The symposium consisted of two parts:
The first part focuses on themes such as Chinese manufacturing 2025: Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Design, Outlook and Reflections of Chinese Automobile Industry and Life Circle of the Localization of Auto Parts. Mr. Hou Fushen, Mr. Xu Limin and Professor Shiochi You made presentations respectively. Later on much discussion was held among the representatives.
In the second part, Mr. Kakiya Kousukei, Professor Zhao Lixiang, Associate Professor Stefan Heim and Professor Ji Xuehong from North China University of Technology respectively gave presentations on “Study on the Chinese Passenger Car After-service Market and Measures Manufacturers Could Take”, “Metropolis Traffic Dam Abatement and Carbon Household Register System”, “The Future of The Union of Peugeot Citroen and Dongfeng Motor: Production, Product, Interest Strategy and Corporation Running” and “Reflections on The Development of Chinese Automobile Industry Innovation”. After the presentations, experts and scholars also exchanged ideas with each other.
At last, on behalf of the College of Economics and Management of BJUT, Professor Zhao Lixiang gave a closing speech to the conference. After that, all the participants paid a visit to the BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd.) Group. The successful symposium deepened the knowledge base of the experts from the Chinese motor industry. The speeches would have a longtime impact on the sustainable development of China-Japan automobile industry and give a positive influence on the development of Beijing Modern Manufacturing Development Research Base.
