President Liu was interviewed by China Daily on Oct 21, during the international symposium “How to Nurture Innovation and Entrepreneurship under Globalization” held in BJUT. The interview was mainly about the internalization of China’s higher education and development of internationalization in BJUT. This exclusive interview report has been published in China Daily on October 31, with the title “University Head Touts International Cooperation”. The following is an abstract of President Liu Gonghui’s comment:

China’s higher education will be almost fully internationalized in 10 to 20 years as domestic universities continue their efforts to build diversified, equal and interactive communication channels with their counterparts overseas. The internationalization of a university has three main stages, while BJUT is at the second stage of internationalization with 80 foreign teachers and 1,000 foreign students from 80 countries and regions, and 40 percent of them studying for degrees.

Moreover, President Liu said deep discussions about reform of the university system as well as the internationalization and localization of higher education in universities will contribute to future cooperation among all participants. “Beijing Tech’s scientific research is in China’s top tier in a range of subjects — including materials science, optics and civil engineering”. President Liu said;“More international scientific research platforms will be built to deepen communication between domestic and overseas experts. As China’s economy and society develops further and grows stronger, internationalization becomes a natural process.”
