On November 4^th, the International Forum on Metropolitan and Megaregion Transportation in 2016 was held in the International Exchange Center of BJUT. This forum was hosted by China Highway and Transportation Society, Collaborative Innovation Platform for Comprehensive Transportation Coordinated Operation and Super-Computing Application Technology of Ministry of Transport, Beijing Collaborative Innovation Center of Metropolitan Transportation, and organized by the BJUT.

200 or so experts and engineers from domestic and foreign transportation departments, R&D institutes, colleges, universities and companies attended the forum.

Professor. Du Xiuli, the vice president of BJUT, gave the opening speech. Professor Wang Guangtao, Professor Kim Changgyun from Dankook University in South Korea, Mr. Zhou Wei, Professor José from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Director of the International Research Center of Sustainable Freight, Mr. Wang Xiaojing, the Chief Engineer of Research Institute of Highway of Ministry of Transport made excellent keynote speeches respectively. During the panel discussion, participants held an in-depth discussion about the development of multimodal, sustainable and smart transportation.

This forum successfully built a platform for the sustainable development of metropolitan and megaregion transportation. It further improved the coordinated co-operation of government, industry and academia to put research results into practice, also benefited the healthy integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
