Sino-Polish University Consortium under the “Belt and Road” Initiative Established in Beijing University of Technology

The inauguration and signing ceremony of Sino-Polish University Consortium were held on 21 March 2017 in Beijing University of Technology. The Consortium was first co-initiated by Beijing University of Technology, Chongqing Jiaotong University and Opole University of Technology in Poland to actively respond to China’s “Belt and Road” development initiative.

The 14 Chinese universities of the Consortium are Beijing University of Technology,Beijing Information Science and Technology University, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, Beijing International Studies University, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Capital University of Economics and Trade, North China University of Technology, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing Technology and Business University, Chongqing University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chongqing University of Technology, Chongqing University of Science and Technology, and Southwest University. And the 9 Polish universities are AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Bialystok University of Technology, Lodz University of Technology, Opole University of Technology, Poznan University of Technology, Silesian University of Technology, University of Silesia, Warsaw University of Technology, and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.

The Consortium will be committed to innovative practice in the cultivating mode of international engineering and technical talents of high quality and cultivation of high-level engineering and technical personnel with practical ability for enterprises, thus making new breakthroughs in the education of high-level engineering and technical talents. Furthermore, the Consortium aims to promote economic structure transformation, industry upgrading and integrated solution to enterprises’ common and critical technology needs. With research project and technological innovation as the traction, it also plans to create a cross-border, multi-school and multi-enterprise collaborative innovation platform so as to stimulate the cross-border flows of funds, products, talents and services among enterprises. Moreover, the Consortium will dedicate to cross-cultural communication and understanding, encourage cross-border flows of personnel between universities, jointly organize various academic conferences, S&T competitions, and different kinds of cultural, artistic and sports activities, as well as support member universities’ efforts in applying for Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms.

In line with the spirit of openly running universities and win-win cooperation, the Consortium seeks to give full play to each member’s unique advantages. Through resources sharing, complimenting each other’s strengths, coordinated innovation and win-win cooperation, the Consortium is committed to carrying out all-round cooperation and exchanges in areas like talents cultivation, scientific and technological research, teaching staff training, campus culture development, and social services.
