National Key Research Project Ultrashort Pulse, Mid-infrared Lasers Materials and Device Technology Starts

On Sep 27th, 2017 National Key Research Project Ultrashort Pulse, Mid-infrared Lasers Materials and Device Technology & Project Implementation led by BJUT was held. More than 50 people attended the meeting including Chief Yang Bing of Ministry of Science and Technology, more than 10 professional experts in laser area, BJUT’s President Liu Gonghui, Assistant to President and General Accountant Li Guojun, Project Leader Wang Pu Professor, leaders of the sub-research project and researchers.

President Liu gave a speech on behalf of BJUT, noting that this project was led by BJUT in cooperation with 13 institutions. The research team was composed by the most important and significant institutions and teams in the field of technology, with the intention to achieve a breakthrough in new sources of laser light and modern laser materials, contributing to the future development of laser technology and other applications.

At the meeting, project leader Professor Wang Pu and 4 sub-research project leaders gave their report of the implementation of research. These experts listened to the report patiently, reaching the agreement that the project took full advantage of scientific implementation, modern technology and first class institutions. Moreover, they provided their practical suggestions for effective implementation and technical standards.

Chief Yang Bing raised specific requirements for project management and implementation of quality, controls and financial regulations. After the meeting, conventioneers visited Laser Engineering Center in BJUT, communicating with the young teachers and postgraduates, offering further suggestions on the project.

This startup meeting marked the beginning of the national key research project and lay the foundation for the implementation of subsidiary projects.
