The Deputy Secretary of the Party committee of Beijing University of Technology (BJUT), President Liu Gonghui and the Deputy President of University College Dublin (UCD) Mark Rodgers signed a memorandum of cooperation on ‘First-class Disciplines’ at UCD in the morning of May 11th in Ireland, aiming to facilitate ‘Double First-class’ construction and boost the comprehensive cooperation between BJUT and UCD. Cai Qi., CCP Politburo Member and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, and John Halligan, the Minister of Training and Skills of Ireland co-witnessed the signing ceremony.
The signing of the cooperative memorandum aims to consolidate and strengthen BJUT-UCD collaboration, better serve the education development of both countries, build world-class universities and disciplines, and promote the common development of both universities. Based on the ‘Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation’ between BJUT and UCD in 2009, this cooperative memorandum focuses on the dominant disciplines of both sides, such as civil engineering, environmental engineering, traffic engineering, advanced materials, new generation information technology, finance, economics, and much more, aiming to promote the development of ‘First-class Disciplines’ through the joint training of high-level talents, exchange of teaching and research personnel, collaborative research, co-hosting of international academic conferences, etc.
The leaders of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and Beijing Municipality, Guo Yezhou, Zhang Shuofu, Zhang Yankun, Cui Shuqiang, and China’s ambassador to Ireland Yue Xiaoyong participated in the visit and attended the signing ceremony.
