Delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Burkina FasoVisited Beijing University of Technology

On August 4th, SeydouSinca,Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Burkina Faso, and another four people visited Beijing University of Technology, accompanied by Wang Shenggang, Deputy Secretary-General of China Scholarship Council, and the person in charge of the Concierge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The Vice President Wu Bin met with the delegation on behalf of the school, accompanied bythe heads of relevant departments such as the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and the International College.

The Vice President Wu Bin extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced the opening of Beijing University of Technology and the general situation of internationalization development, and highlighted the latest development of the “World-class Universities and World-class Disciplines” construction of Beijing University of Technology. He said that Beijing University of Technology attaches great importance to the reception of students from Burkina Faso and provides necessary assistance and convenience for the transitional study of students.

Liu Zenghua, Dean of the International College, gave a detailed introduction to the study and life of students from Burkina Faso at Beijing University of Technology.

The Secretary-General SeydouSinca expressed his gratitude to the Beijing University of Technology for thewarm reception and considerate arrangements for the students from Burkina Faso, and expressed his appreciation for the theory on international school management and achievements of Beijing University of Technology. He said that the friendship between the Chinese and African people is profound and hopes that more students from Burkina Faso will come to Beijing University of Technology for study to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

In his speech, the Deputy Secretary-General Wang Shenggang pointed out that the reception work of students from Burkina Faso was highly valued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the CSC. He thankedBeijing University of Technology for the good cooperation in the preliminary workand briefly introduced related work such as the follow-up studentsadmission.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the International College and had an informal discussionwith the students from Burkina Faso. The students were very comfortable with the new life at Beijing University of Technology and were very satisfied with the relevant study and living arrangements. Many students expressed their willingness to stay in Beijing University of Technology to continue their studies.

Burkina Faso is a landlocked country located in the upper reaches of the Volta River in western Africa. On May 26, 2018, it officially resumed ambassadorial-level diplomatic relations with China. In July 2018, entrusted by China Scholarship Council of the Ministry of Education, Beijing University of Technology was responsible for receiving 22 international students from Burkina Faso. Beijing University of Technology attached great importance to this work, provided necessary living conditions and funding, customized training programs for students, and arranged a variety of learning and cultural activities.
