On December 9, Arkadiusz Mężyk, President of the Silesian University of Technology, paid a visit to BJUT. Liu Gonghui, President of BJUT and Deputy Secretary of the BJUT CPC Committee of and and Wu Bin, Vice President of BJUT, met the delegation. Relevant heads from the International Office also attended the meeting.
President Liu expressed a warm welcome to President Mężyk. He introduced BJUT, mentioning its international development strategy and the progress of the“Double First-class” initiative, as well as summarizing the first “Belt and Road” Sino-Polish University Consortium Art Festival and Art&Design Competition. He pointed out that the two universities were similar in many areas including the background to their foundation, programmes and school structure. He hoped that the two universities could further expand the depth and breadth of cooperation and gradually explore new joint training initiatives and cooperation based on extensive exchanges between students and teachers.
President Mężyk expressed his gratitude to BJUT for its warm welcome. He briefly introduced the programmes, school structure , cooperation with industry and international exchanges of the Silesian University of Technology. He said higher education in Poland was in a period of reform, which provided opportunities for deeper cooperation between the his university and BJUT. He hoped that the two universities would use the new dual degree programme as a starting point and gradually expand cooperation,
Founded in 1945, the Silesian University of Technology is one of the oldest and most prestigious science and engineering universities in Poland. The university is located in Silesia, one of the most developed industrial areas in both Poland and Europe. After 70 years of development, the Silesian University of Technology has become a major force in the culture and higher education of the region. The university has 13 professional faculties, which constitute a complete engineering education system. These faculties include architecture, automatic control electronics and computer science, civil engineering, chemistry, electronic engineering, minerals and geology, biomedical engineering, materials engineering and metallurgy, energy and environmental engineering, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, organization and management and transportation. In addition, the physics science and technology education center, the faculty of social sciences and the foreign languages center also provide students with more learning options. BJUT signed an inter-university student exchange agreement with the university in October 2018.
