Carnegie Mellon University Australia Visits BJUT

On March 15th, Danura Miriyagalla, Vice President of Carnegie Mellon University Australia, visited Beijing University of Technology. Vice President Wu Bin and the heads of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and the School of Economics and Management met with the delegation on behalf of BJUT.

Vice President Wu welcomed Vice President Miriyagalla and his delegation. He introduced BJUT history, guiding principles, development, international exchange and cooperation, and the university’s international talent cultivation and “double first-class” construction. He said that Carnegie Mellon University was a world-famous university with a history of more than 100 years. It was also one of the most favored destinations for BJUT students to study abroad. He expressed the hope that the two universities would carry out multi-level pragmatic cooperation in the fields of talent cultivation and teacher exchange, and provide more opportunities for mutual exchange between teachers and students.

Vice-President Miriyagalla expressed his gratitude for the BJUT hospitality. He introduced Carnegie Mellon University and the mission, programme structure and project characteristics of its Australian campus. He said that the Asia-Pacific region was one of the most important regions for the development of the world economy. As an important part of Carnegie Mellon University’s internationalization strategy, the Australian campus aimed to cultivate more high-quality international composite talents for the economic and social development of the Asia-Pacific region. He hoped that through this visit, Carnegie Mellon University Australia would formally establish and quickly implement an inter-school partnership with BJUT.

In 2019, Carnegie Mellon University was ranked 24th Times Higher Education World University Rankings, 46th in QS and 81st in US News Best Global Universities. In 2006, at the invitation of the Government of South Australia, Carnegie Mellon University established its Australian campus in Adelaide. This campus offers master programs in Public Policy and Management (MSPPM) and Information Technology (MSIT).
