On July 2, Professor Edward Craig, Executive Director of the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI) and Dean of the China-UK Low Carbon College visited BJUT and was received by Vice President Qiao Junfei and President Assistant and Dean of the School of Economics and Management Li Guojun. Heads of the International Office and the School of Economics and Management also attended the meeting.
Vice President Qiao Junfei extended a warm welcome to Dean Craig. He gave a general account of BJUT, our disciplines, our “Double First-class” construction, and the colleges and disciplines associated with low-carbon studies. He hoped that the two universities could strengthen pragmatic cooperation on circular economy and low-carbon studies and explore the combination of Industry-University-Research and international technology exchange. President Assistant Li Guojun introduced the disciplines and research areas of the School of Economics and Management. He noted that, in light of the close ties between the two governments, research and innovation in low-carbon areas and the open education strategy, cooperation between the two universities would facilitate a leading platform for circular economy studies and exert demonstration effects in China.
Dean Craig expressed his gratitude to the hospitality of BJUT and introduced the China-UK Low Carbon College. He noted that the University of Edinburgh attached great importance to cooperation with Chinese universities. He looked forward to working with Chinese partners, especially BJUT, in circular economy, urban and rural development, data-driven innovation, etc. to share achievements such as low-carbon decision-making and revolutionize low-carbon applications.
The two sides exchanged ideas on future cooperation and held in-depth discussion on low-carbon economy issues.
