The Sino-Polish University Consortium (SPUC) under the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI) is a non-profit strategic cooperation organization established in response to the “Belt and Road” Initiative under the guidance of Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. In March 2017, Beijing University of Technology co-authored with Chongqing Jiaotong University and Opole University of Technology the SPUC with another 20 founding members. By now, the SPUC has expanded its membership to 27 universities. The SPUC aims to develop partnerships between Chinese and Polish, and even Central and Eastern European higher education institutions to enhance comprehensive cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and Polish, and even Central and Eastern European universities. In 2018, the SPUC successfully held the first SPUC Art Festival and Art & Design Competition to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the BRI. In 2019, to further implement the BRI and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the PRC and Sino-Polish ties, the SPUC planned to organize the first “China-Poland Express of Connectivity” Youth Summer Camp, the “Belt and Road” International Academic Conferences, and the second SPUC Art & Design Competition. So far, preparations have been in perfect order. As a practitioner of the BRI, BJUT has been fulfilling its functions as the rotating presidency of the SPUC. In 2018, BJUT set up a Belt and Raod Office as the Secretariat of the SPUC, responsible for liaison with member universities and publicity, laying a solid foundation for the further development of the SPUC.
