Lately, H.E. Eoin O’ Leary, Irish Ambassador to China and associates visited BJUT and attended the 2019 Graduation Ceremony and Dual-degree Conferring Ceremony for graduates of the Beijing-Dublin International College. Professor Liu Gonghui, Deputy Party Secretary and President of BJUT met with the delegation. Also present were heads of the International Office and the Beijing-Dublin International College.
President Liu extended warm welcomes to the delegation and thanked H.E. Eoin O’ Leary and his colleagues. He gave a general account of the 2019 graduates of the Beijing-Dublin International College and highlighted the positive results the College received upon quality assessment by experts from University College Dublin (UCD). He noted that after seven years’ development, the Beijing-Dublin International College has grown into an exemplary high-level Sino-foreign joint institution. It manifests not only the sincere cooperation between BJUT and UCD but also the friendly ties between China and Ireland and Beijing and Dublin. He hoped that in the future the Irish Embassy in China would continue to support the cooperation between BJUT and Irish universities and the development of the Beijing-Dublin International College.
H.E. Eoin O’Leary appreciated the hospitality of BJUT. He highly praised the achievements of the Beijing-Dublin International College and congratulated BJUT and UCD on their in-depth cooperation. He noted that this year marked the 40th anniversary of Sino-Irish relations. Ireland attaches great importance to cooperation and exchanges with China. In recent years, Ireland has been promoting Chinese language education and digital technology education, hoping to further enhance Sino-Irish collaboration and exchange in all aspects.
After the meeting, the two sides attended the 2019 Graduation Ceremony and Dual-degree Conferring Ceremony for graduates of the Beijing-Dublin International College in the university auditorium.
