On July 16th, Pawlowska Marta, instructor at Opole Confucius Institute, Bartosz Polok, Chairman of the Student Government of Opole University of Technology (OUTech) and four associates visited BJUT. Deputy Party Secretary and President Liu Gonghui received the delegation. Also present was staff from the International Office and the College of International Education.
President Liu extended warm welcomes to the delegation. He reviewed the friendship between BJUT and OUTech, talked about the selection and appointment of the Chinese Director of Opole Confucius Institute in 2019, and praised the achievements the Institute made and the important role it played in Sino-Polish cooperation. He noted that BJUT and OUTech developed profound friendships along the way. As rotating chairs of the Sino-Polish University Consortium (SPUC), the two universities played a leading part in the development of the SPUC. This year, the SPUC plans to hold the first “Belt and Road” International Academic Conferences and the second SPUC Art and Innovation Competition. Participation of OUTech teachers and students is highly welcomed. He hoped that the delegates could take the Confucius Institute Summer Camp as an opportunity to explore ancient buildings and culinary delights, learn Chinese and make friends, and eventually promote extensive exchanges between Chinese and Polish students, deepen our friendships, and write a new chapter for higher education cooperation between China and Poland and even Central and Eastern European countries.
Ms. Pawlowska Marta appreciated BJUT’s hospitality and the support for the Opole Confucius Institute. She noted that BJUT had organized several summer camps for the Confucius Institute. They provided a platform for Polish teachers and students to experience the Chinese culture, enhance their understanding of BJUT, improve mutual trust and integration, and promote student-to-student exchanges. Bartosz Polok expressed gratitude for BJUT’s hospitality. It was his honor to visit BJUT for the first time. In the next two weeks, he hoped to exchange ideas with BJUT students, experience the Chinese culture, and improve mutual understanding between students of the two universities.
Opole University of Technology (OUTech) was founded in 1966 in Opole, Opole Province, Poland. It is the largest academic institution offering science and technology programs in Opole. OUTech has seven faculties, i.e. Faculty of Civil Engineering & Architecture, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatic Control and Informatics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Physical Education & Physiotherapy, Faculty of Production Engineering & Logistics, and Faculty of Technical Systems Engineering. OUTech attracts students, teachers, and experts from all parts of the world with an international academic environment. In 2008, OUTech and BJUT established the Opole Confucius Institute, which has been recognized as one of the best Chinese language and culture institutions in Europe.
The Student Government of OUTech is a student organization with a presidium as the core, which consists of one chairman and several vice-chairmen. The Student Government investigates and supervises the exercise of functions of the university on behalf of students. In the meantime, it pays close attention to campus life, promotes youth culture, and organizes activities and events on a non-profit basis. Student Government members are experienced in event organization. They organize all kinds of activities and events to enrich campus life and build self-worth.
