On January 14, the team led by Professor XU Chen published a paper entitled “Meta-surface-integrated vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers for programmable directional lasing emissions” in Nature Nanotechnology, part of journal Nature(Impact Factor 33.04).Theresearch applied the meta-surface technique to surface emitting laser array, which canmanipulatelaser beam profileswithin subwavelengthrange, realizing thesurface emitting laser chip possessing such functions as light beam focusing, collimation and arbitrary angular deflection. Then the zero-order non-diffractive Bessel beam laser chipandthe monolithic integration multichannel vortexbeam (orbital angular momentum, OAM) laser chip were also produced. The research resultis of great scientific and application value in the fields of laser radar, quantum communication, laser control and display, etc.
The research was co-completed by six institutions at home and abroad. The Optoelectronics Technology Lab, Key Laboratory of MOE,Faculty of IT, BJUT is the first institution completion the paper. Associate Professor XIE Yiyang is the first author and Professor XU Chen is the corresponding author. The co-corresponding authors also include KAN Qiang, Researcher of Institute of Semiconductors, CAS,and Patrice Genevet, Professor of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). The research was supported by the National Key Research and Development Program of China (Nanotechnology Special Project), National Natural Science Foundation of China, the European Research Council (ERC) etc.
