BJUT held the orientation “President and Freshmen” on Sept 23 to all 2020 new students. The keynote session took place at Yifu Library with 54 breakout sessions in the Pingyuan campus and Tongzhou campus, all of which can be accessed via a live stream. Liu Gonghui, Deputy Secretary of CPC BJUT Committee & President, gave a report entitled “BJUT In His Youth: Working Towards a First-class, High-level Research-Oriented University”. By virtue of pictures, videos, and objects, President Liu reviewed the university’s history and achievements in development and helped new students fit into university life in BJUT at the earliest opportunity.

In the report, President Liu Gonghui spoke eloquently about BJUT’s 60-year history of growth and educational achievements by answering five questions—who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? What can we do? What should we do? He highlighted that new students who are enrolled in BJUT in 2020 are the lucky one of today since they will become the witness to the accomplishment of the first Centenary Goal, the100th anniversary of the founding of CPC in 2021, and the unparalleled Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 in Beijing, the unique city to host both Summer and Winter Olympic Games. In 30 years when the centenary of the People’s Republic of China is marked, the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation will be realized through hard work. President Liu hoped that students keep plugging away to direct their great youth to good ends when the young BJUT is forging ahead and duplicates more success in the new journey of building a world-class university!
