BJUT Students Achieved Spectacular Results in the 14th International Contest of innovAtioN in Beijing

The final of the 14th International Contest of innovAtioNin Beijing was held on October 11. Under impact of the Pandemic, the opening ceremony of the contest was held online. Thirty teams from BJUT signed up for the competition and the projects covered the fields of artificial intelligence, smart home, intelligent transportation, and smart agriculture. After fierce competition, they won first prizes in 4 projects, second prizes in 6 projects, and third prizes in 7 projects. Specifically, 10 works, including EMG Signal-Based Control System of Biomimetic Hand, Interactive Visual Analysis System for Students with Mental Disorders, Behavior Disorder, Learning Disability and Financial Hardship, Data-Driven Vibration-Based Pavement Performance Evaluation Method, Machine Vision-Based Sign Language Recognition & Speech Interaction System for The Deafand Mute, and Smart Focus-Adjustable Eyeglasses For Myopia Prevention And Recovery will represent BJUT to participate in the final in China.

The International Contest of innovAtioN (“iCAN”) and Tryouts in China ( formerly known as the Meixin Cup China MEMS sensor competition ) is an annual competition for college students to innovate and start their own business, which is jointly sponsored by the International iCan Alliance, the Innovation Teaching Steering Committee of the MoE and the Chinese International NEMS Society, and undertaken by PKU. It is also one of the projects supported by the quality engineering of the MoE. Started in 2007, iCAN advocates to serve society and improve human life with scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship. The competition guides and encourages college students to innovate while scouting for and cultivating a number of promising and potential young innovators and entrepreneurs. It furthermore aims to promote and strengthen the combination of industry, university and research in hi-tech fields, as typified by the IoT and intelligent hardware, so as to drive the development of hi-tech industry and build an international exchange platform for hi-tech innovation and entrepreneurship.
